Survey, what do they do?
Hi there, we have a a surveyer/valuer coming around next week from our buyers. Having never sold or (or bought for that matter) a house I just wondered what they do. Survey shows Dampness in ground floor walls.. buy or not to buy?
Hi, Hope you can enlighten me with your experience ;) Our survey came with evidence of dampness in ground floor walls, so they say we have to get a dampness/timber report. My questions are: - Is that very expensive? - Is it worht to buy a house with that? The house needs COMPLETE doing, and our offer reflected that, but I…

A reasonable offer??
I am about to view a 1930's detached house in south staffordshire. The propety is currently vacant and appears to be in good condition but is probably dated. Its on the market at £159, 999, which in normal times I would consider a good price. Taking account of the market etc and the fact that I am likely to get less that i…

How much would you offer for this house
I have seen a house on the market for £380K, it was sold to the present owner at the peak of the market (Oct 2007) for £395K. Using todays nationwide figures this house should be valued at approx £313600.(20.6% off peak) House prices are expected to fall by approx a further 20% so I feel that a fair offer would be £250000.…

I am hoping to move closer to my family - I own my place and still have some equity in the house. I will need to sell up in order to move back. There is no rush - but sooner rather than later would be better. When (and don't laugh here) do you think would be the best time to put the house on the market - Now, spring next…

But would this not…
