Help!!! - Dad selling home to brother
Hi, Can anyone help - my dad wants to keep the house in the family and has decided he wants to sell it to my brother. Does my dad have to go to a solicitor to deal with the change/transfer of ownership or can he do this himself? If he can do it without a solicitor, how does he go about doing this? Thanks

Council housing advice
Hello, not sure if this is in the right forum but maybe someone has experience of this. My friend is trying to get a bigger council house but so far is being ignored by the council. She and her husband and three children live in a small 2 bedroom house and really need a 3 bed. Her little girl is too big for her cot now…

Can I do a property tfer TR1 without a solicitor?
Hi all We are redeeming our home finance and due to the type of arrangement we have, the property is not "assigned" or legally charged to the bank, the bank actually own it. So when we make the final payment we have no early settlement fees but we do have to pay all the solicitors fees and disbursements to get the property…

Shared Ownership - Making an Offer
May seem a silly question, but for shared ownership properties, is it possible to make an offer on the 50% share that you're looking to purchase? i.e. it has a market value of £80k for the 50% share, but I want to offer slightly less. If this is possible, what are the chances of the offer being accepted? I notice that they…

Previous Sale Price - Does it matter??
I know that people always say don't worry about what the previous price of a house was as it is irrelevant to the current price and all that matters it the price/valuation now...but..... What to check on draft contract?
My solicitor had sent me a draft contract for the house I'm buying. It's a mid terraced 3-bed house. UK Unoccupied dwellings, stats please?
Team Wharf (Mr Phirefly, the basset hound and I) are going to a protest and I wish to be armed with the facts. Could anyone come up with some clear factual statistics which illustrate the number of unoccupied dwellings in the uk? That and any stats which demonstrate that building on greenbelt land is not the answer to the…
