When Best to Book?
When is it best to book? I know flights are released 11 months in advanced, and like Amazon's pricing, they go up and down as the sun and moon rise but generally speaking, is as early as possible better? Thanks

Italian ZTL fine
Got one of these yesterday for entering a ZTL in Siena back in September 2012. It was a payment reminder, so I guess an earlier notification has got lost in the post. I wasn't even driving, but the car was hired in my name... Anyway, not a rant or anything - just saying that just because a year has passed, doesn't mean…

Car Hire Excess Insurance Question
Hi, I was looking at car hire on kayak. The cheapest car hire came out to about £15/day with £10/day for excess cover. I was surprised to learn from ML's article on car hire that it's possible to shop around for excess coverage and get much cheaper quotes: £2-3/day as opposed to the 'offered' £10 from the car hire company.…

flights to Preveza, Greece
There seem to be only 3 airlines flying to Preveza - Thomas Cook, Thomson and Monarch. The only one with availability for the dates we want (18 May outward) is Thomas Cook and the price has slowly gone up over the last couple of weeks and is now showing £850 for 2 return flights. Question is, does anyone know how the…

Anaheim, LA holiday currency question
It would appear that the pre-loaded card of choice for spending abroad still seems to be the Fairfx Card. I intend using this one for my forthcoming holiday to California, specifically in Anaheim. Anyone found any difficulty or had problems doing so in Anaheim with Fairfx? I'm also open to alternative…

Thomson Orlando car hire
Hi I have booked a week's holiday in Orlando with Thomson and part of the deal is that it incudes "free" car hire. The terms state that you must buy CDW insurance either via Thomson (which seems expensive - £130 ish) or when picking up the car. The booking is with Alamo. I have declined Thomson's but I am now wary that I…
