Dissatisfaction with SSE
Hello In February I took over responsibility for the energy account at a residential property, as a representative of the landlord. This was because the tenant had moved out, and until a new tenant is found the landlord has to pick up the tab, and I handle the landlord's finance. The landlord is a registered charity. I…

Moved house - Fuel Dillemma
Hi all, I moved into my new property in August last year. Gas is supplied by BG and Electricity by EON. Gave the opening meter reads and decided to stay with their tarriffs. For BG, i was put on their standard tarriff. And, due to the very long winter we've had, and the low monthly payments i agreed to, i am now in a debit…

Energy saving lightbulbs...
Not sure if this is the right place but couldn't find anywhere more suitable, if not, please delete/move as appropriate. In order to reduce my electricity bill, I'm looking to replace all my landlord's incandescents with energy saving lightbulbs - leaning on the side of LEDs over CFLs because the latter are a pain to…

I think I have a faulty electricity meter?
Hi all, After a series of seemingly high electricity bills I am started by to think my electric meter is faulty. I noticed that the imp/kWh light still flashes whilst my main fuse breaker and consumer using breaker is completely switched off. When I told my supplier EDF energy about this, one person claimed that this light…

Co-op Energy - Exit fees dispute
Hi all, Just to share with you my on-going negative experience with Co-op Energy. We were on their "Co-op Fix for Longer Feb 2018 v2" tariff, which was coming to an end (at the end of February). I didn't want to stay with Co-op but I carefully waited until within 49 days of the end of that fixed contract before making a…

SGN doesn't have my MPRN
Hi everyone! I did try to find threads similar to my situation, but all of them are related to a missing address. I moved recently (2 weeks ago) into a new flat. To get my MPAN I've contacted UK Power Networks. I've receiveed an Email with the MPAN which is fine. For the MPRN, I've called SGN. They have my address in the…

I bought a house back in December that had had the central heating ripped out, and "energy efficient" electric radiators installed. 3 months later heating what was a shell through the coldest part of the year, and we have a very sad bill of £700. We have an Eco 7 meter, but now i'm looking to get a better deal i cant tell…

Prepay electric top up

Igloo energy
I must congratulate igloo energy on its customer service. The phone is answered almost immediately and emails replied too within hours. Likewise once a month after giving my meter readings I receive my bill within hours. So with a good rate and excellent customer service I would highly recommend this company

Dual Fuel fixed coming to an end - moving without penalty?
I imagine there are early exit fees on these deals. Right now we're with First Utility and we're on their First Fixed May 2018 deal with it ending 31st May. Question is - is there a point in the contract you can move without charge (such as when you're within the final 31 days) or can you only movie without charge (in this…

Desparetly need some advise about my boiler
So I had my system boiler serviced today. This is the 4th year so I’m unsure why no one else has picked up on the problem. Basically, my overflow pipe is leaking, the gas pipe and condensate pipe go into the cavity wall and not outside (which apparently is against gas safety regulations) and the expansion vessel on the…

Paying for accurate usage
Hi all Am new to switching and have the following question - We have just changed our boiler from an ancient gas guzzling monster to a condensing type. This should mean much lower usage. At the same time I want to switch suppliers as we are paying top dollar rates. This will be at a fixed one year deal. When the new…

Can I leave EDF after just joining.
Hi everybody, I have just changed from Utilitia to EDF but I also moved over from pre payment on Utilitia to a credit meter. I did this because I have heard you can get better deals on credit meters paying monthly by direct debit. I did this on the phone because I couldn't use comparisons sites as I had to get switched to…

Is the ultility best buy club on here the best?
Hi, I am due to renew my energy as my deal with NPower fixed online comes to an end in July. Is MSE Energy Club the best tool out there - it is currently only giving me a saving of approx. of £55 max to join one of the fixed one year deals with a small company. Is it worth the switch to its top pick or do I need to use…

How soon can I go back to Bulb?
My son decided I was paying to much for my gas and electricity with Bulb so switched me to someone else. I did get over £150 credit back from Bulb. Now a friend has switched to Bulb and wants me to use her referral code to get both of us £50. I worked it out and with the £50 referral and Bulb paying my exit fees I will be…

Should I convert to Economy 7?
It is the time of year I have turned my heating off. As I take daily meter readings my meter readings have gone from about 45-55 units a day with it on to about 15 units a day - that's the only change I have done so obviously the heating is 3/4 of my energy usage. I put the heating on roughly in November and try turning it…
