Energy Companies Scams
Since deregulation the supply of energy has become a lottery win every day for many companies. The energy Ombudsman is a fop to the industry, overly bureaucratic and incapable of safeguarding consumer interests. WARNING Spark Energy overcharge and try to claim for services not supplied; they use B W Legal as their ultimate…

Standing Charges
Someone needs to get a grip of these back door price increases to our energy bills, I have noticed that this year these so called standing charges have increased by as much as 20%, doesn't seem like a lot but when your a pensioner believe me you notice it, amounts to almost £5 a month, standing charges are a rip off.

Scottish Power - leaking meter - appalling customer service
Just purchased a house and gas safety engineer tested property to provide a gas safe certificate. He detected a leak on the gas meter test nipple and capped off the supply. He confirmed the boiler and appliances were fine and that the gas supplier needed to fix/replace the meter. Unfortunately the gas supplier is Scottish…

Switching Complications
Hi, I have been given a new house by the local authority and I am finding the ability to get gas/elec sorted an absolute minefield. I haven't moved into the house as yet and plan on doing so in about a 1 week time The gas is provided by SSE and its a standard non prepayment meter which I presume the previous tenant paid by…

EDF - they just don't like refunding you!
Had my regular tussle with EDF today to get a refund. Here we are in June and I'm £150 in credit, "so please pay it back to me". "Oh well, we expect customers to be in credit coming up to the winter months, then at the end of the billing period [March 2016] you won't have a negative balance" - or words to that effect. The…

Help with Back Billing and questionable charges - Scottish Power
I have recently received two bills from Scottish Power regarding a faulty meter, where the counter stopped working. The first bill was for works/visits done by British Gas in replacing that meter, and the second to back-bill an estimated usage over two years. My usage is very low, so I'm sure their estimate (stated as…

Quick question regarding energy contract..
Hi, I have just received a bill from Npower for my gas and electric. It states that I owe them 583 pounds. This seemed quite high to me because I'm just a single person living In a small studio flat so I checked the tariffs and it was obvious I was on some sort of standard rate that had me paying almost double some of the…

UKNRwise
Has anyone heard of this company? I had a man knock on my door today offering free cavity wall insulation. Apparently it is Government backed. He has made an appointment to call back in a couple of days to drill a couple of holes in the walls to check if there is any insulation which I don't think there is. I can then get…

Another First Utility issue!
I left First Utility in September 2013 and moved to Greenstar Energy. Last week I received a bill from First Utility for £900+ for electricity from September 2013 to now. All estimated readings. I have been billed for both gas and electric from Greenstar. I called FU and they said my closing reading was never received and…

Astronomical electricity bills?
Hi everyone! We are with SSE Southern Electric for our gas and electric. We have just received our electricity bills from them and were absolutely gob smacked to get a grand total of 633 pounds... The period for this bill is from 27th of February through to 28th of May. The reading (actual, not estimate) tallies up to…

big problem switching from npower - meter reading
Hi, I really do think I've been patient but now I've had enough. Last December I joined the MSE energy switch. All went very well and I left npower. Or I thought I had! I wasn't surprised when npower were slow to close my account and pay me the £166 they owed me, although the actual figure wasn't confirmed. Then they sent…

Extra energy nightmare
A totally useless company which should be urgently investigated by the relevant authorities. Joined on 26th June 2014 and I am now £1283 in credit and in spite of numerous phone calls and e-mails and even assurances from their complaints team that a bill would be posted to my account, I am still waiting almost 1 year after…

Pre Pay Meters - How do i ditch them?
Hi all Just moved into a property that has prepay gas and electric meters, never had these before. As well as being inconvenient, i understand they are more expensive. I therefore want to get them swapped for standard credit meters, but not sure how to do it, i've read Martin's page on the matter, so know which suppliers…
