Argos card - April 2007
Looking for some advise regarding an Argos card taken out in April 2007. I used this card on & off to make large home purchases between 2007 - 2014, until I fell into financial difficulties when I split up with my partner. The balance was roughly £800 but is roughly £1300 now with the missed payment charges etc before the…

Making PPI claim while on an IVA
My father is just over a year into an IVA and has been invited by his Insolvency Practitioner to make a PPI claim. They have put him in touch with a claims management company they are affiliated to, and that company has just sent him a hefty set of Letters if Authority to sign (there are many creditors involved). Before he…

Started my Wonga refund claim....
I've requested my SOA from Wonga but wondering how far back they will go? My very first loan was in July 2010 and it just turned into a rolling loan for 12-18 months. I'd have a break for a bit when I met my partner but the same thing happened 2/3 times since, paying it back on time and borrowing it again repeatedly for…

Am I doing things right?
I have a credit card balance of £5100 with lloyds, and a loan of £4790 also with lloyds. I've just opened a card with virgin money, and done a balanced transfer on 0% for 10 months at no fee. Now my plan is to get the card paid off within the 10 months then focus on paying the loan off. Am I doing the right thing?

Cutting Your Food Bill
Hi everyone, Just wondered what everyone's top tips for cutting down your food bill are? Frustrated with the lack of space in my freezer, I set myself a challenge for the month of August - I didn't allow myself to buy any food for the entire month (except milk) to force me to use up what I had in the cupboard/ freezer. Led…

What small DFW things will you do this week - w/c 4 September When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym. But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often…

I regret taking a car lease, can I cancel?
Hello everyone I wish to be debt free as I am really fed up of being in debt and the stress it is putting on me and my family. I wish I had made the decision a year ago when I took out a lease on a car. I am currently £50K in debt (excluding mortgage). Is it possible to cancel my lease on the car? It was January 2017 that…

Financial Statement
I am looking to return a financial statement with an offer of a monthly payment. One question I have is they ask for my partners income. This debt is in my name only and it happened before I met and lived with my partner. At the moment I am currently not working due to health reasons and I am a house husband. My partner…

Can I change my DMP?
Hi, I'm in around £7,000 worth of debt, mostly from payday loans but have an overdraft £1500 and bank loan £1000. I got to the point where 90% of my wage each month was paying off the payday loans, leaving me with barely anything to live on so I'd take out another loan - vicious cycle! In the end I contacted PayPlan who…

Things are looking up
Hello, I'm a bit of a lurker on these boards, but they helped me in a time when everything seemed so bleak and I am so grateful for that. Just reading through my old posts makes me realise how tough it was and what a stupid person I'd been. Anyway. I've been in my dmp since 2011, I have paid off about £24000 in debt since…

Strange letter from Capital One
Hi Folks, I received a puzzling letter from Capital One. I requested a CCA and sadly they had it and sent me a copy lol. It's post 2007, my signature and appears to be in order. The cover letter stated curtly that they have the required paperwork, the debt is enforceable and they would not correspond with me again…

What is the best option? DPP or recovery?
Hello We have 5 creditors. 2 are under control, but the bank loans , 2 of them and credit card are higher payments than we would like for our 1 small income. After lots of calls to tsb one of the advisors eventually said they can pass our 2 loans accounts from collections to recovery (could take a couple months) which will…
