Hello I recently cashed in a retirement investment account and had to pay tax on part of it. They issued me with a P45 with the details. I am currently employed. Should I send the P45 to my local tax office, or should I hand it in to my employer for tax adjustment purposes?

Why do HMRC need to know interest earned with banks?
I don't understand when filing a tax return for self employment why they need to know my current and saving bank account interests earned for the year. Tax has already been deducted within the accounts so no need for HMRC to tax again or am I missing something ?
