Hi, Very brief question. My mom has received a tax recalculation for the year 07/08, stating over £900 was owed. I know this was wrong straight away but it took 3 hours to find all the paperwork to prove it, and so I could photocopy the P60. Also about 8 phone calls to the tax office due to been busy and getting…

Council Tax Summons - but I've actually overpaid

I received a demand from the council for a late…

P60 Tax Refunds
Hello I was wanting to ask a few questions about sending off my P60 to claim any refunds that I'm due. I'll keep things quite brief to avoid any confusion. I have worked for Tesco for nearly four years and in this time I only recall getting one refund which was a cheque sent to my home address. I think in the years since I…

Reduced tax code to repay owed tax
So, I apparently owe £700 tax from 2007, and HMRC have reduced my tax code for this coming year (2011-12) to 396L to reclaim the underpayment. I work variable hours each week (I'm a student nurse so when I'm on placement I have to work a 40 hr week at the hospital, and do roughly 25 hours at my part time job. When I'm in…

comparing tax/insurance when self-employed and through payroll
I'm currently working 4 days a week with 2 1/2 of those being paid as an employee and the other 1 1/2 as a self-employed consultant. It has been suggested that I can be put on the payroll of my currently 'self-employed position' but would have my hours reduced to 1 day a week instead of 1 1/2. This seems beneficial to me…
