how long does switching take
Hi guys. I have been with Natwest for 9 years and I'm considering switching to santander 123. I have no direct debits going out now until August 28th. Would the switch be made by that time? Is it guaranteed that all direct debits will be switched? How do I have access to my money while the switch is taking place? Thank you

Nationwide FlexDirect
I currently get the 5% rate with this account but will be dropping to 1% shortly. Once I've closed this account, do Nationwide allow you to open another FlexDirect straight away or do they have any sort of time period they make you wait before doing so? Thanks.

Advice paying off overdraft
Hi, I am looking for some financial advice to a current situation I find myself in. Obviously turning to the internet to ask strangers for advice isn't the best option but it does open me up to the possibility of options I understand very little about or options I would have otherwise not thought about. I graduated from…

Standing Orders!
I have set up a couple of Standing Orders in order to pay off debts owed on two old credit cards to a debt collection agency. My question is can the companies ever take more money from your account than you have set via Standing Order? E.g. If i have set it to, let's say £25/month could they one day decide they want to…

Money still in my Halifax account when it shouldn't be
It sounds like a lovely problem to have to deal with - but I need advice! I then moved a portion of this money into an investment fund I hold with Fidelity. At the time, I received an…

Cycling payments through current accounts for incentives
I have several current accounts such as Santander that offer extra interest or a cash credit provided you fund them with at least 500 or 1000 (etc) pounds each month. So I move an amount from one account to the next so that they all qualify. I have been cautious about moving money in and then out again on the same day in…

Tracing a cheque and recepient
This is an award situation as it involves family members (of the non-divorceable type), hence why I'm "thinking out loud" on here and trying to envisage possible scenarios before opening a can of worms which cant then be resealed. So...if a cheque has been cashed and cleared, so I cant put a stop on it, is there any…

Leaving First Direct Due to Two Factor Auth Fail (Secure Key) Who Is Better?
I persevered with First Direct after they moved to the card machine, then they finally saw sense and used a phone app, but the way they have implemented it is a total joke, it is hugely difficult, intensely frustrating, and this is coming from someone who has a number of Microsoft qualifications and has worked in IT for a…
