Current account - payment limits
I’d appreciate any advice that you all may have in relation to selecting a new current account. Currently, I bank with Citibank (using their gold service – what a joke it is – avoid at all costs…) and I intend to sack them after they’re latest screw up. The single biggest reason for my selecting them in the first place is…

Hi After checking my account, I've noticed that my gym have not been taking monthly direct debits since March '11. I did not instruct them to stop taking DD's or did not cancel the DD (it's still showing as active). I've been regularly attending the gym throughout and have received no correspondence to tell me about…

Graduate account - affecting credit rating?
I graduated (from a PGCE course) 5 years ago and still hold a graduate additions account at Barclays. I use the overdraft and have looked about and this is the best deal for me atm, even with the £7 a month charge. Last time I called the bank advisor tried to tell me I should change to a regular current account as I don't…

Budgeting App for Android Tablet?
I'm looking at getting a bit more money savvy this year, and I've noticed there's quite a lot of apps to help with budgeting/financing. What I really want is an app where I can enter in what I've spent into categories (eg, food, electricity, entertainment, travel) and then see how much I've spent each week/month on a…

Increased Direct debit without my knowledge
I find out, from bank statement, that the gym I am a member of has increased my membership. I had not received any form of warning to make me aware that there would be a change. It's not a massive increase each month, but it adds more to the overall year. :( Can companies do this without the knowledge of the account holder?

Bank says no to us paying off overdraft?
Hi there, a bit of a strange one. Yesterday, DH and I went along to the bank with a £200 cheque intending to shave said £200 off our £600 overdraft. The young lady who served us paid in the cheque but looked a bit unsure about our request to reduce the overdraft. She went to an area behind the counter where they appear to…

Cheque cleared - error identified - bank now demanding money back!
Hello all - I recently paid in a cheque over the counter and, strangely, I was able to draw on it within 48 hours, prior to that it was just 'showing' - within 2 days it was cleared funds. So I did, paid a few debts etc leaving that particular account now showing zero and happy I'd paid stuff off. To my surprise, the…

Studying abroad
Help! As part of my uni course I'm going to study in Spain for 6 months. I want to avoid paying huge bank charges every time I need to get some cash or pay for anything. Hi all! I have foolishly lent £250 to a "friend" who promised to pay it back within 24 hours, that was over 3 weeks ago. My problem is I no longer trust him and so want to set up some kind of direct…
