Switching with £2k overdraft
Does anyone let you switch with a guaranteed overdraft? I applied for the LLoyds with £50 c/b and they said I could open an account, and congratulated me on a £0 overdraft!

What's the cheekiest fast one they've tried to pull on you?
I received a letter from Barclays a couple of years ago explaining that several hundred pounds had been deducted from my account, because a cheque that I had deposited about ten days earlier had been lost in the clearing system. I was told in the letter I would need to request a new cheque from the person who wrote the…

BACS Transfers
Right, that's the thread re-constructed. We're open to the floor. If anyone's interested... If a BACS transfer is sent on a Monday (not just set up on a Monday, because if it's past Monday's cutoff, it will not be sent until Tuesday), it will arrive with the destination bank on Wednesday. I class Monday as Working Day 1,…

Abbey- Bank charges & small claims court
OK, will try to give a condensed version of the story, and please note this is not a request for posts regarding "People who can't manage their accounts deserve everything...", as that really is not helpful at this moment in time. My parents have been with the Abbey for over 20 years, both banking and mortgage, (despite my…

Theft from ATM
A friend of my wife went out onto the town the other weekend, got drunk, took a tenner out for the taxi home in the early hours. We have just hit on a particularly bad financial crisis - the first we have had in 15 years. All of our credtors have been great - Portman and Mortgage Express, Smile and Egg have all done their best to help us, suspending payments and reducing charges. The Halifax where we have our current account have been awful applying…

Which is the best bank for left-handers?
Which is the best bank for left-handed people? HSBC offer left-handed cheque books (with the stub at the other end), which are a godsend for left-handers. Which other banks offer this service? Which don't, and why not? The Nationwide told me that they don't do them, and they also have the pens on the wrong side of the…

New current accounts
I've received various offers to open up new current accounts recently and they're quite good. Crate of wine for one £25 for another. Is there anything stopping me opening several current accounts without having to put my salary into one in particular. Does it look bad for credit ratings if I've applied to open lots of…
