my wife simply cannot get to grips with our finances. no matter how much i try to explain the virtues of paying off our debt, while she agrees entirely with the concept she cannot seem relate that it means making a concious decision NOT to go looking around the shops, and so she simply continues to use the switch card as…

Regarding this wonderful account with a 0% overdraft for 12 months, unless your account has been in credit for 2 consecutive days in the past month (i think that is the timespan - sorry the papers are at home) they wont match your existing overdraft. Cheque query
I received a cheque through the post this morning which was payment for something i sold on eBay, but was confused by it, to say the least. The date on the cheque was "4/7/05". Now i know that the guy only wrote the cheque in the last month, and almost certainly in the last week. It's the first instance i've ever come…

Postal Orders
I expect all of us on this board have many ways of sending money to others -cheques, credit/debit cards etc. All of these can easily be free of charge as we all know, and several of them give us cash back. Foreign Transfers: different banks - different exchange rates!
I occasionally transfer EUR amounts to my accounts. As an experiment, I transferred €10 to several different accounts on the same day at the same time to compare the conversion rates of the different receiving banks and the number of days the transfers took. I compared the GBP amount received to the interbank exchange rate…
