It is possible your son might not be bothered about a gift, but his fiancée might be. So best to play safe and buy something nice and not too cheap, for the sake of future family relations.1 -

Take them out for a meal, if that's not too expensive? I'd be thrilled with that but everyone is different. I wouldn't expect an engagement present, I think a card is lovely though.1 -
