Could you have a smaller trellis panel as a 'feature' and then grow something evergreen through it? Maybe a winter flowering honeysuckle for the glorious scent when everything else is dull.

Mine is a cut fence. It’s a fence. My gate is not too match as it’s shorter and a different wood. Painted a blueish grey. My garage door is a custom blue I really like.
