If you cancel the DD they'll have to send you a cheque for the credit refund. Unless you are absolutely skint I'd be inclined to leave the DD in place until the account is settled.1 -

Is that assumption based on the terms of the warranty? Or just more of a desire? If your assumption is supported outby the terms, then point that out to them.1 -

It all goes back to the Govt of the day implementing what turned out to be unlawful discriminatory legislation. The cost of fixing the mess will be astronomical.2
