Perhaps now that interest rates are falling, providers are tightening up on allowing deposits throughout the term. When interest rates were rising, it wasn't really an issue.2 -

Putting the husband as lead passenger where there was a question mark over his being able to travel appears to be the crux of the problem. If this was not raised with TUI staff at the time of booking…1
