Decorators caulk shrinks and is rubberish, difficult to sand. IMO wood filler is better, but there is a big variaty of them. I think two-part ones are better.1 -

Caulk for any gaps between frame and wall. For the woodwork, wood filler. Two part fillers are better as @grumpy_codger says, but if you’d don’t like those for interior woodwork something like Everbu…1 -
