I think the delay is down to the fact that there's not enough staff to process the amount of reviews that are being undertaken. The end result is a longer wait before each review is completed.1 -

There is no specific time period. But from what I have seen, it can take a couple of months, before they send a journal message confirming review has been completed.1 -
