ebay- problems with delivery to Italy???

Options
Hi folks, has anyone had the same experience with delivery to Italy as we have ?
Basically we have sent 4 or 5 packages to Italy in the last 6 months and they haven't arrived and it's becoming a right pain! We have refunded 4 of the buyers so far (even though we always get proof of posting) but are getting fed up with it. We have sent packages all over the world- America, France Germany, Czech Republic, Finland, Australia, etc etc with no problems but every time we send something to Italy it doesn't get there!
Is there a problem with the postal service in general in Italy?
We are now thinking that we don't want to post to Italy any more but that rules out a lot of potential buyers.
Any thoughts would be welcome.

Someone will be here to help soon who is more experience - I've noticed many experienced ebay sellers make a point of saying they won't post to Italy and my boyfriend has had problems in the past sending items there. I found this on the Ebay forum but I am not sure it helps - I am not sure whether it's the generally rub Italian postal service or scammers.

Strangely enough, this morning I have received a message from a buyer in Italy who has not received a DVD, and it's the second time n the last month I have had to refund and Italian buyer. Both have healthy feedback - 500+ and no significant negs, so it's unlikely to be "scam buyers".

I've also noticed more sellers stating no shipping to Italy, as well as Nigeria and increasingly The Netherlands. I've not had any problems with the Dutch so far.

In the past I have had problems with post to italy, luckily I have persuaded by customers to be patient (not a natural Italian practice!) and have found deliveries often take up to 6 weeks!! Basically the postal system is useless outside of the main cities.

As for the Dutch, I haven't experienced any problems but have heard of some who have.

I have sold many items to Italy and like someone else has said on here I find they take many weeks to get through even though airmail say it should be there within 5 working days

Oh dear - an Italian buyer has just bought an item from me. The postage is as much as he paid for the item! Am sending it by Parcelforce Global Priority - anyone had experience with them? The website says 3 working days and tracked

I send a present every year to my friend in Italy for her birthday.

I have found that post is slow but it does eventually get there. It takes about one month from the UK. Perhaps there is a longer delay at the moment due to Christmas post backlog.

Send by a trackable method. You will be able to see the status online. Although I always send by normal airmail and I haven't had any packages get lost.

Last year I had an item sent to her from the USA & that took 3 months! But it did get there.
