    Second Tesco Current Account

Second Tesco Current Account 12th Jul 17 at 11:50 PM
Recently opened a second current account with Tescos after reading on MSE that this was possible. Anyone know why the full account number doesn't appear when I open it online?

Is paying via a DD the only option to the initial opening payment? How would I go about transferring from my other Tesco accounts if the second current account doesn't appear in the pull down list?

You just need to wait for it to be finished setting up. Then you'll be able to use it as normal.

If your new account doesn't show in the list of accounts, it hasn't been fully opened yet and you cannot make any deposits into it yet, regardless of the method of payment.

You won't be able to do anything with it until you receive your debit card and activate it, then the account number will be visible.
Although if you look in the 'document' section you should see a welcome letter, which will have your account number on it. That should at least allow you to set up direct debits.

Got the account number off my debit card which arrived today, thanks.

Apparently you now have to activate your debit card to pay in??

I am sure I saw something on the account that said DD, but maybe it was something else. Difficult to say for sure as they keep mucking around with the site.

You would thing they would know tha at Tesco Bank, but I wasn't told that when I enquired.

So I found out earlier; you would think this would be made clear on the paperwork somewhere.

DDs are my next stumbling block: how do you set these up as there seems no option to add them on the account.

There's a "Manage account" link that used to take you to a menu of option, but now all it does is offer to make your account "paperless".

Are you looking at the credit card section or the current account section? Would your Tesco credit card be managed from the same website as your current account?

How do you usually pay your credit card off?

They both have the same or similar sections.

They are both managed from the same website, yes.

It depends on how I feel and what is available. Some cards I pay by cheque, some via online banking and some via direct debit. The cheque thing is usually because I am visiting a branch to pay in anyway.

You need to be in the credit card section. I don't have a Tesco credit card, so I don't know what the menus are, but I would imagine there must be a menu called 'payments' or something similar where you can manage the direct debit. I do have Tesco Internet Saver, and there is a section in there to manage the direct debits, and if its managed from the same website I would have thought that the layout must be much the same?

Here are some instructions on how to set up a DD on a Tesco CC:-
    http://www.tescobank.com/online-banking/help/manage-credit-cards/

There is a video, and you can view the transcript. Does that help?
