Photogenic First Anniversary Name Dropper First Post

My Android 6 phone has suddenly stopped allowing selectable web links in emails - I am trying to find a way of resetting it to HTML emails - but can't find it
I am using the Gmail app
Any suggestions ?

    OK Figured it out
    Need to uninstall updates to gmail - this allows hyperlinks to appear
    How stupid is Google - they appear to have made a boo boo !!
