This morning I got up at around 8:30 as usual. When I came downstairs I noticed something in my letter box cage. I have to have a cage because my dog thinks it's his job to shred the postman's fingers when they poke through the letter box.
I opened the cage and took out a roll of twenty pound notes. They were clipped together with a big paper clip. There were five, so in total £100.
I have two sons who live with me, aged 19 and 21. I asked them both if they knew anything about it, thinking that they'd lent it to one of their mates and they were expecting it back.
Nope. Nothing.
I put it in my drawer. I'm not 100% sure what to do with it. What would you do?

ermmmm did you check like your car for example and see if there is any damage perhaps?0

A friend said that too, Gettingready, everything looks fine to me, can't see any damage. My car's parked on my drive, it's not like it's on the road or anything. I'm clueless as to why anyone would do this.0

Keep it in the drawer until someone comes knocking, either a neighbour or the sender having figured out their mistake.Kate short for Bob.

Maybe posted it through the wrong door? I'd keep hold of it for a while and see if anyone "claims" it.0

has someone in the street won the lottery? its something I would do - but include a note saying it was to 'share my luck'.0

Just realised my mistake. i'll come round tomorrow at 9.00 to pick them up!"if the state cannot find within itself a place for those who peacefully refuse to worship at its temples, then it’s the state that’s become extreme".Revd Dr Giles Fraser on Radio 4 20170

We had a £100 put through the door once, long story but it was to do with someone taking my daughter's riding boots , a year later they were returned ( we hadn't noticed a pair were missing lol ) there was a note saying they'd bday licked clean ...he said he would buy her a new pair , then the money arrived as he hadn't been able to get out to buy them
There were other bits but too much to typeVuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0 -
It's gone through the wrong letterbox. It was meant for me.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

Lol, I'm loving some of your answers. I will keep it in the drawer for a while and see if anyone comes back to claim it, although, how could they prove it was even here?
If someone did knock on the door and say they'd posted it in error I would return it, of course, but I could always say I'd never received it......
But then again I was brought up to be honest, unfortunately!0
