Good morning!
DH and I are trying to cut down on takeaways but we still like an easy cook, tasty, treat option on a Friday night. I just wondered what everyone else has on their treat nights? All ideas gratefully received!

Home made pizza (using the breadmaker) or butchers burgers in rolls.. both with chips, onion rings and corn on the cob.0

Friday night is usually homemade pizza night at our house. I make the base with the artisan bread in 5 minutes a day basic recipe, No kneading! Dh always has the same toppings and on mine I use whatever is in the fridge. It only requires about 15 minutes of hands on work and is so much better, and cheaper than a takeaway. A glass or two of wine and it is a pretty good Friday night!0

If I were to do a similar thing it would definitely be burgers (either homemade or top quality butchers/supermarkets) with cheese, lettuce, cucumber etc... Buy oven chips if you want but I would also do my own HM wedges, which are really as simple as chopping up a potatoes, spraying oil and cooking in oven at 200 for 20-25 minutes.
I am trying to lose weight and cannot resist the temptation to drown this meal in mayonnaise, but it is certainty an easy treat meal.
With regards to the HM pizza base, just buy a cheap margherita pizza, or a pizza base, and put whatever you want on yourself? HM pizza bases are easy I am sure but if you want to really cut the time then just buy the base ready-madeHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Our favourite is a steak sandwich, the way I do them is to slice onions and fry until soft and caramelised. In another pan fry strips of thinly cut steak ( it can be the cheaper thin cut rather than fillet).
Serve in toasted rolls or ciabata or french stick bread with mayo or whatever condiments you prefer eg mustard, chilli sauce, steak sauce etc.
We would normally have coleslaw and wedges with this.
Another take on the sandwich idea that we like are meatball sandwiches. Just small meatballs in a tomato sauce sprinkled with cheese.1 Sealed Pot Challenge # 1480

Thank you all - I am sat here ravenous now! They all sound fab ...especially that steak sandwich although I wouldn't be able to have cheaper cuts!
Just chucked my bread maker but I have a pizza base recipe that doesn't need it although by the time I buy the stuff to top the pizzas, it can be cheaper to buy asda's 2 for £4.
We have decided on Sainsburys meal deal curry thing off the counter. We have had them before and really enjoy. I noticed tescos also had 2 large pizzas and 2 sides (dough balls and chicken wings) for £6 which I thought was good - for anyone else who might be interested.
Thanks again, and keep 'em coming!0 -
I have just brought the take away secret book to try and cut down on spending on takeaways. It only came Monday but I am looking forward to trying it. I found out about it on here and all the people on that thread really recommended it. Xx0

We always have an easy tea on a Friday. Its usually oven chips and oven fish and tinned peas. Unless we go out.
Saturdays are our treat night when we have curry or fajitas or a fancy salad.
Someone else has said they use the book the takeaway secret, that's something I have often used. Its really good for inspiration.0
