This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

    Morning all:j:j

Chilly and cloudy here this morning, I do believe that the sun might make a show later,
Lovely hot and sunny day here yesterday, :j:j

Not long woke up In my chair, All tablets taken, Just waiting for them to kick in as I feel rough again this morning.

I woke up at 2:15am with nasty burning Pain in my left leg, Just below the knee and going all the way down to my toes, Just In the one leg,
I got up took some pain killers and fell back off to sleep In my chair. Woke up just before 6:00am this morning with a headache.

I had a good afternoon yesterday with one of my oldest friends, and her DD, Yes you read that right, One of my oldest friends and best est friends is a Girl!
her DD come with her, We use to have loads of Fun when she was little, Shes 14 now, And still like to come and see me, But of course our relationship is far different now, Anyway me and her Mum put the world to rights,

This morning I'm at the doctors, To see the Nurse, I'm having my staples out!:T:T

Its hard to believe that its Monday, And this time last week I was having a shower at the QE Hospital, and getting ready to have my Op! The week has gone very quick for me.
I'm making good progress each day, Feeling stronger, I have had some headaches, And the areas were they cut, Do hurt and sting from time to time, Which means they are healing and knitting back together, I' do have to say that I'm looking forward to having the staples out, I can have a good scratch then!:j:D:j

Today I'm also popping down to my Mums and Dads house to cut my dads hair for him.
Hes not been very well the last few couple of days with his chest, So Having his hair cut may make him feel a little better,
My Dad has COPD (Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)

    See here, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chronic_obstructive_pulmonary_disease

My wife's back at work today, So I shall be on my own for the most part of it,
Not sure what My plans will be for the rest of the day, But I think I shall be doing some reading/resting .

I also need to have a think about Dinner tonight,

Dinner last night was roast chicken, roast puds and Veg, We have some chicken left over, So Dinner tonight Will have chicken in it. Just not sure what to do with it yet.

Iv not read yesterday daily since early yesterday, So I'm not sure whats going on with everyone,

    I hope everyone is well,

I shall pop and read it now and have another coffee, before I get ready to go to the doctors, I'm booked in for 9:00am,

Have a great day everyone and if the suns out try to take a little time to enjoy it!:j:j

    Have a good day everyone

Headlight - Get some rest! Pleased to hear that you are doing so well - you will feel better without the staples, can't believe it's been a week since your op!

Up early this morning - DD has to be in work for 8.30 so has just left for the 7.15 bus. She heard this morning that this bus service will be finishing soon as it isn't busy enough. Shame as it is about half the price of the train.

Spent the weekend cleaning the deck, still got some of it to put protector on. I love having the big decked area but it's a pain once a year! My poor back was aching yesterday. Hopefully the weather will hold and I will get the rest done tonight when I get home from work.

The garden has had a bit of a tidy up (don't like gardening!) and the grass looks nice and tidy. The weather has been so hot the last few days that I have had to come into the house for shade.

Just a little washing to put on the line when it's finished and then I'm off to work. Take care. XX

    Morning everyone

Halight - hope your meds have kicked in and you're starting to feel better x

Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x

DH up and off to work early but not stupid early.

Very dull and cloudy and overcast here this morning, feels cooler too.

Got several jobs done yesterday - so after we had taken DS1 into school for his revision session, we went up to the shop to purchase my camera - really pleased with it and spent a good while yesterday setting it all up and it's going to take a while to learn how to use all the functions - but that will be part of the fun. Spent more than I wanted too, but wanted to get a decent bag to store/carry it about in - there's not a lot of point of spending a lot of money on a camera then not storing/carrying it about in something suitable that will protect it. Now have a few weeks before mum and dad's golden wedding party, our hols and some weekends away, so no doubt I will be having lots of practice shots!

We also spent a while gathering items together for the yard sale on Saturday (we don't have much time in the week so yesterday was a good day to do it, although the house now looks a bit of a pit as it's all piled up in the lounge). At least if we're able to sell over half of it, we'll have much less unused/unwanted items in our house.

Late lunch was a sage and onion stuffed chicken - was really lovely, will definitely buy one of those again, and it wasn't particularly expensive either, did all the normal trimmings with it - roast pots, mash, carrots, broccolli, peas, yorkshires and gravy, ice-creams for those that had room after.

Back to work today - no doubt it will be a manic Monday - but the job I have this morning will be busy but not manic as it's a Monday but only doing that this morning then back to the more general stuff this afternoon.

Spoke to the holiday company on Saturday afternoon - all balances now paid up so really looking forward to our hols and its not that many weeks until we go, just need to save up as much as we can so we can do and see lots! Also redeemed some of my vouchers so am waiting for the money vouchers to come through that will pay for a couple of days trips - keep researching a few things at a time on the internet so I can take lots of info with us on the local area and do and see as much as possible. We should also be able to meet up with DH's aunt and uncle as they live a couple of hours away from where we are staying - but it's an 8-10 hour haul from our house to theirs so seeing them whilst we're closer would be good. Because of the distance we don't get to see them very often either - unfortunately weddings/funerals etc.

    Keep safe and well x

    Good Morning

Am typing this in the doctors waiting room, looks like DD has a water infection, unfortunately as its so hard to get an appointment everyone turns up for the walk in surgery, it's very busy in here!

Worked last night and feeling tired. Did end up getting a lot done round the house yesterday so today will be concentrating in the office.

Not sure what is for dinner tonight, may pop out & get a chicken.

Nothing else exciting to report so have a good day all & hugs wherever needed x

    Morning all,

Bit gloomy here today hope it brightens up later on, wm is on with a white load and I have a dark load to go in later would like to get them on the line today.

Dropping dd at work this morning, then home for a couple of hours housework, I also have some office work to do for a few hours, and I would like to get in the garden if possible and I need to go to the post office to post an ebay parcel.

Dinner tonight will be lamb chops, we dont have then often due to the price but they were half price so I grabbed some, not sure what to do them with, but might do mash and veg will see how I feel later on.

    Morning :hello:

The stag weekend was a success - only one injury (one of them was hitting a punch bag, missed and hit the wall!), only one got lost but he turned up a few hours later, and they were all hungover when they got home :D

I've used up some potatoes that were starting to sprout. Made some mash for the freezer and lots of potato salad.

I was going to nip to town, but our road is closed at one end for a couple of days and the bus has been re-routed. I can't be bothered to walk to the other end, over the bridge then up another road to the bus stop, so I'm staying in :D The tomato plants in the greenhouse need some attention, so I'll sort them out instead.

I need to go through my stash, I have bits of material, lots of stuffing, loads of cards and paper and some yarn. I'll put it into some sort of order then get started on putting things together. First I'll make cushion pads. Then get fed up with it and put it all away "til tomorrow" :rotfl:

    Morning all,

Halight your scar looks fab now the staples are out, the body is an amazing thing.
my leg is still sore and stiff and very bruised around the wounds but am sure it will heal eventually.
I am all alone this morning, dh is at work. He is very worried about business. Most of his work comes through the local advertiser papers and to be honest they are slowly fading away. hardly any are delivered any more. He now has a website and pays for google adwords but the work is slow to come through.
Hence my job search. I applied for another one yesterday and shall be spending the morning looking for anything else I can apply for.
We go away on Thursday so tomorrow will be spent washing any last minute bits and digging the suitcases out.
Have already made a trifle base this morning and pulled out some chicken. shall do rogan josh with naans and rice.
need to fit a shower in at some point and change my dressings.
oh meant to say I loved The Returned last night looks like its going to be good.
    Have a good Monday x

    Morning everyone :)

Feeling tired today, didn't sleep as soundly as I would have liked but hey ho. DS is off school today, I wanted to make sure he could keep food down (he didn't eat at all yesterday) and wasn't keen on eating today. Suspect he's probably back to normal but I'd rather be sure.
So am tied to the house, good job really as I have ironing mountain to complete. Need to vac upstairs too, have stripped and changed kids beds so more washing and ironing breeding  it's never ending....
BM is on, can't decide what to do for tea. Meh just lacking inspiration for food lately :o

Anyway better get cracking with the ironing. Hugs and spoons all round xxx
