Cabin air quality

After years of using low cost operators I think I'm going to start paying more and avoid them.
The reason for this is that the cabin air quality was really unpleasantly bad on my most recent trip. I put this down to cost saving by recycling more air and saving on compressor costs.
I'm just wondering if anyone else has noticed a difference or if I've just become more sensitive to it.

I haven't personally noticed the budget airlines having lower air quality than the others. The small (i.e. the short haul Airbus planes with 1 aisle) ones can be a bit stuffy compared to the big planes, but that hasn't seemed much different to me between airlines.0 -
To be honest, I think any airline is probably going to do the same. The airline I noticed this with the most was IcelandAir, but to be honest, I don't personally believe there's much between airlines, more aircraft.0

I have not noticed a difference to be honest - are they not all the same when it comes to air conditioning? It might be different in biz or first class?0

Maybe it's due to the people on low cost carriers smelling worse?!0

The worst air quality I have exeperienced was with BA on a long haul flight as the air con wasnt working for 10 hours!!!!!0

Ehm, sorry, but the "air con" would've been working on the flight, otherwise you wouldn't have been able to breathe. Did you mean the cabin was too hot? Too cold?0 -

Mrs Bob the Saver and I often take a nosegay if travelling in row 2 onwards especially from some 'regional airports'.0 -

nosegay Bob?
Multi-purpose floral ornament one use of which was to shield the bearer from not so nice smells.
