Can anybody advise the cost of calling 0551 and 0560 prefix numbers from BT landline on BT Together Option 3.

    Calls to 056 numbers are charged at g21 rate and vary according to the day/time of day:

    4.89p/minute incl.VAT peak (between 6am and 6pm Monday to Friday);
    2p/minute incl.VAT evenings (between 6pm and 6am Monday to Friday);
    1.18p/minute incl.VAT weekends (between 6pm Friday and 6am Monday)

    Calls to 055 numbers vary too - and there are 2 charging bands, g6 and g21.

    g6 band is charged at 5p/minute incl. VAT at all times.

    See BT's March 2007 Specialised Numbers price list.

    N.B. Anyone who uses a CPS provider (recommended) rather than BT for their calls, always use a 1280 prefix to 'hop back onto BT' to call such numbers (that was added to the Orchid program in February).

Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

    Anybody know if these 0551 & 0560 calls are included in the "free calls".

    If so they are the only "free" calls that are listed individually on the bill.

    Heinz, the prices for g21 you mention are for BT 'non-discounted' packages such as Light User Scheme. There is no reference to the price of g21 on BT Together in the document Heinz has linked to. Most people are on BT Together tariffs, and I presume that GaryS is, although he hasn't mentioned.

    If you refer here you can find out which numbers are Charge Band g6 and which are g21.

    As you can see, all 056 numbers are g21, but 0551 includes g6s and g21s, so you need to specify the next few digits.

    In answer to your question, g21 numbers are included in inclusive parts of BT Together tariffs.

    Pricing information for BT Together Option 1 is here, Option 2 is here, and Option 3 is here. If you refer to "Table 1a - Geographic Inland Direct Dialled PPM Prices" for your respective option, you will see a note below the table about g21 rates. So basically they are the same as an 01/02 call on BT Together.

    Thanks for that DD - now I'm really confused.

    So, it appears, with the exception of calls to numbers in the:
    0551 100, 0555 508 and 0558 83 ranges, BT Together subscribers pay the standard 01/02 prices for calls to 055 and 056 numbers.

    Wasn't that nice of them to make call charges so transparent in these new ranges? Another triumph for Ofcom!

    Does that mean that, for those on BT Together Option 1, evening or weekend calls to them are 5½p for up to an hour too?

    Anyway, if finding BT's prices for such calls is that convoluted, I dread to think what difficulties would be involved in trying to find them for other providers (incl. CPS providers). On balance, I still think those using a CPS provider would be safest using a 1280 prefix to send such calls via BT - at their published, if difficult to find, rates.

    056 are charged at the normal rate for whatever BT option you have on your line. So on option 3 they are included.

    Thats what I was told at work anyway.

    Thanks, an answer that is easy to understand.

    I am on BT option 3 and had checked the BT website but could not make any sense of it.

    What has this thread got to do with unwanted premium texts ,or mobile phones,when the op is talking about the cost of calling 0551/0560 numbers from a BT landline. :confused:
