At 28 I am considered a mature student - I weep. Will be starting a nursing degree and having just finished work on Friday, the nerves have set in.

Anyone else taking the leap of faith?

Me! I'm 25, and have a 4 year old and a (nearly) 6 year old! I'm doing a joint honours degree (English literature and Sociology). I did an access course last year with a view to doing nursing but came to the conclusion I'd never hack it lol x
  • Well you have dealt with vomit, chickenpox and the terrible two's twice. You could probably have hacked nursing.

I think thr age difference will be an adjustment for me, in class with kids who haven't finished puberty! Lol
  • Me too :D

I am 32 and starting an English Literature degree on the 24th :)

I have 4 children from a nearly 12 year old who has just started high school last week, down to a 2 year old. I am expecting things to become very hectic, very soon lol.
Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
Nothing is going to get better. It's not.
  • Well I expect to see you both on here during thr wee small hours while up finishing course work lol. I will be doing a nightshift probably.
  • I hope not, my little ones get up at 6am... I am normally crashed out by 11pm!

My grand plan is to do all my work through the day 9-3! which will allow evenings and weekends free.... (famous last words:p)

  • Lol. If I had a pound for every student I heard saying that.
  • Pmsl... I know!!

No doubt I will actually still be up when the little ones are getting up :o

If I can advise anything, start your work early, ignore the blowhards, and record audio notes as well as writing notes. V handy for the days when you can't be bothered doing written work or need last minute revision.
  • Which uni are you going to and when do you start?

I start on the 24th... I'm itching to get started if I'm honest. Our first week seems like a full week of nothingness though, all cake and tea followed by pub crawls??

So I will be going to register on the 24th.. I want my MONEEEYYYYY.. Then I don't even think I will bother with the rest of the week.

  • I'm start nursing at UWS next week. I'm terrified now. Live alone so I will continue to work during the course - and as skint as I will be - I'm not giving up my pesto sauces.
