Yes I have been using the VOIP 2nd line since I signed up with Orange Broadband in 2007. At the time I had an Orange contract phone, so I got broadband for free, but paid £5 per month for the upgraded Offer for an additional monthly charge to Broadband Unlimited which includes calls to UK landlines at any time (01 and 02 prefixes) and calls to 100 international destinations and unlimited downloading subject to Fair Use Policy

When my mobile contract finished, I still only continued to pay £5 per month and now only pay £5.11 due to the vat increase. My line rental is with BT.

I have been with them along time since wanadoo & was on dial up. No orange mobile contract ever but got the £6.13 (now) per month upgrade free as a retention offer, so pay £10.20 pm although I always get a few months free when renewing. I can ring Orange mobiles free as well.

Orange want us off this if your line rental is else where especially.

I have never tried to renew the broadband contract, as I did not want them to say that I was no longer entitled to the free part of the broadband, as I had not had an Orange mobile contract since 2008.

So you only have to give a months/30 notice to terminate then I think and the same applies to Orange.

Did you go onto Orange PAYG when you left the Orange MOBILE contract?

I think I went to Orange PAYG, but did not keep the contract no.

I have not wanted to cancel my broadband contract, as I'm happy with the deal that I'm on, I can't see them doing a deal cheaper than a fiver a month.

I'm told that its coming to an end after 7 years, expect an email or a text soon.

    Just found this on Wikipedia

    Discontinuation of Second Line Service

The Second Line was a VOIP service which included a separate telephone number, was withdrawn for new customers on 17 September 2010[1].
In September 2011, Orange Shops in the UK began offering the Netgear DGN1000 router which has no facility to accommodate a Second Line making the service a legacy only facility. As of August 2012, existing customers are being notified that the Second Line service will be discontinued from 17th September 2012 and any calls made using the Second Line will be charged at the standard rate by the customer's line rental provider.

Amazing that was on Wikipedia already.
  • I also have the second line and orange recently phoned to ask if I wanted to upgrade to a new product, save money blaa blaa. The main reason is they want rid of the live boxs with second line because its costing them money. The new product will not include international dialing that costs an extra £5 a month. I told them to shove it.
