hi all,

looking for a really hydrating face cream, i have tried in the past chanel hydromax which was lovely ( though very expensive) it felt like my face had just had a drink of water and really felt amazing ... however they have changed the formula and i seem to be allergic to the new one ( doesnt feel anywhere near as good either)

my routine is currently

cleanse with liz earle's cleanse and polish, i then use decleor neroli oil, followed by clinique dramatically different moistuirizer ... i am happy with my my liz earle and relatively happy with my decleor neroli oil but not so impressed with my clinique dramatically different moisturizer

my skin is just so dehydrated and i am not really sure why, i drink plenty of water 2-3 litres every day so it isnt lack of water, i ALWAYS ( even in winter) protect my face when i go out ( suntan lotion) and i use my moisturizers every day

can anyone recommend anything to try?

i went to neals yard and tried their frankinscence oil face cream the very kind lady gave me a sample ( i am fed up of buying loads of different moisturizers) ... it seems not too bad at the moment but still isnt as hydrating as i would love

Have you tried Clinique's Moisture Surge? I've been using at night sometimes recently and my skin is much less dehydrated.

Also, I suffer from food intolerances (not allergies), main one being dairy, and if I indulge too much in foods that I shouldn't really eat, then my skin gets much drier. I also find it can get dry when the air conditioning is on full blast at work. Not sure if either of those could be an issue for you?

havnt tried cliniques moisture surge will ask for a sample i think and see how i go from there thanks

i have also never thought of food intolerances, i have never been aware of any but i know i do have sensitive skin so maybe something is irritating it ... air con isnt an issue for me at work but i was aware of it on flights etc (hence the reason i started the other thread) as i do tend to get even drier skin on flights so maybe there is something that is effecting my face?

thanks will have a think about food things now :)

Might it be worth swapping the Neroli to the next step up which is Iris Oil ? (I think!) May take some of the pressure off your mositeriser if you are getting the hydration some other way.

Decleor night balms are pretty good too.

i do use the decleor night balms and find them slightly helpful, i dont use them all the time though maybe once /twice a week as it really is oily and just sits on my skin rather than sink in ( or atleast that's how it feels)

i think i have a wee sample of iris will try that

    thanks

have you tried aldis range of creams and serums? I used to have dehydrated oily skin (think greasy with flaky bits - yeush!), but since using the day, night cream, serum and eye cream i havent had any flaky dry bits at all and my skin feels really plumped and my makeup goes on much better. I honestly find these creams so much better than the higher end ones I used to use e.g. liz earle, decleor night balm which are sitting unused in my cupboard atm

Like you I used to drink tons of water but still get really dry skin.

Also, try adding an exfoliating step if you arent already to allow your moisturiser to work better

Another thing I used to do before using aldis stuff was take a tiny dab of vaseline, mix it with a few drops of water in my palm then apply in on top of my cream - it didnt feel greasy at all cos of the tiny amount I used, but it did the trick
We got rid of the kids. The cat was allergic. ;)

I was going to say Clinique Moisture Surge too but it is expensive. They also do a serum which is very good and better value. I usually use Surge over a moisturiser but I also find dramatically different isn't enough for my skin any more.

I use the contents of a starflower oil capsule at night. I tissue off an excess after 10 mins (if I can wait that long before I fall into bed!) and it's certainly made a difference. It's cheap too!

really loving these ideas please keep em coming :)
  • Liz Earle superskin is fantastic for my dry sensitive skin. Its not the cheapest but a little goes a long way and if you buy their cleanse and polish they're quite good at doing samples.
I've tried clinique and reacted really badly to it but everyone's skin is different.
