Virgin media - FREE wireless USB adaptor

Options
I signed up to virgin media broadband today and got the 60MB without a phone line. this is only 13.75 for the first three months then goes to 27.50 but I will be down grading to the 30MB plan after as I wont need 60Mb just want to try it as its not much more for the first three months.
anyway I got an email from virgin media half an hour after I got off the phone with them.

In this email it said

"For Virgin Broadband customers
We will provide you with a Virgin Media Hub or Super Hub. For the Hub to work correctly your computer needs to have an in-built wireless card. Most computers have one, but if not you may need to purchase a wireless USB adaptor. If you have Virgin Broadband up to 30Mb, you can buy one from us for an additional cost (or free of charge if you are a 50Mb or 100Mb customer). Alternatively, you can connect to the internet via a wireless connection between your computer's Ethernet port and Hub."

Here are my emails to and from them

Subject: wireless USB adaptor

Hello Johnathan,

I just read an email I was sent and it said I can get a free wireless USB adaptor if I'm 50Mb (guessing this means 60Mb) customer for free. If this is so would I be able to get one as my wifes PC is in the other room and I can't get a cable to it easily.

thanks

Toby

No thank you.

Can I ask how is the 100Mg is the old 50Mg?

You uses to get 30Mg, 50Mg and 100Mg and now you get 30Mg, 60Mg and 100Mg the only differences is that the 50Mg is now 60Mg.
The deal was from the 50Mg

Hi,

from April we installed BB customers with the new BB speeds,

L = 30mb
xl= 60mb
xxl = 100mb

prior to April

L = 10mb
xl = 30mb
xxl = 50mb
xxxl = 100mb

Any customer installed prior to April, will have thier speeds increased over the next fews mths.

I hope this explains it.

cheers
jonathan

    old 50 = new 100
    old 100 = new 100 with a price reduction compared to previous cost.

    Its not false advertising, there was never a free USB with 30mb (30 became 60)

    If you want a decent reliable connection that does not need software, passcodes use an Ethernet cable. Wireless is the Skegness of networking.i.e the last resort!
    That gum you like is coming back in style.

    Do you really need a wireless adapter? If so, they're not that expensive even from PC world.
    Data protection is there for you, not for companies to hide behind

    I wouldn't be able to get a cable to the wifes PC easly so its wireless or power line adapter.

    I know that wireless adapters are cheap but if I could have saved some money by getting one for free would be better
