Amazon voucher email - is this a scam?

Hi, My son got an email advising he had been gifted a £20 amazon voucher. He wasn't sure about the name of the sender and was a little puzzled to get it. He then credited it to his amazon account and set about subtly trying to find out who had sent it so he could thank them properly.

A week later an email arrived saying it had been sent to him by mistake and could he send them the money back. It all feels a bit odd. Does it sound like some elaborate scam or am I just being over cautious?

seasons greetings and thanks for all the help this year

Sounds like a plain and simple error really, at least the arent asking for more than was originally sent, then it would be different

dont use the link in that 2nd email, use the one attached to the original email and put a reference in regarding the 2nd email.

And a Happy new year to you and yours too.....................
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • Thanks for the reassurance. I've been trying to figure out if there is something more going on than meets the eye. No more paranoia for 2011.
    cheers!
