Who is right.

I bought a pre owned game from Gamestation and i dont like it, the trade in price is 1/3 of what i paid so i said that i think i can just return it no questions asked within 7 days for a full refund (i have the reciept).

My husband said thats wrong as if it was the case everyone would be buying games and completing them within 6 days for a full refund.

So who is right, me or my husband?

It will settle this mini arguement and it would be useful for me to know generally :)

Thanks!

    their - 'owned by them'
    they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)

I know its not their fault, did i say it was?
I was wondering thats all, as you can return most other things and get a refund or credit note.

I have returned worn boots before and got a refund (but i had only worn them for 5 mins and decided that unbroken legs were a better option)

It depends on the stores terms and conditions, not just statutory rights. If the store says they accept refunds within 7 days, then they should. I doubt that's the case though!

If you got a refund they must have been faulty.

Some shops do refund but its at their discretion, you have no legal rights to a refund if an item is not faulty, even then the shop can offer to repair, refund or replace, it really is upto the shop policy

  • If it says on the receipt "if you change your mind etc" then there is no reason why you could try it and take it back if you didn't like it or finished it, but I think Gamestation do credit not refund.

They would take all your details, so if you did it on a regular basis, they'd probably say no. So i'd say you're both right!!
  • Sell it on Amazon rather than trade it in.

Buy second hand on Amazon too, you rarely end up losing out financially!

  • He is right. It's no different from going into Waterstones for example, buying a book, reading it, then taking it back a week later and asking for a refund.
