Not sure if this is correct forum but thought that you guys would be a wealth of knowledge. Son needs new headphones for Ipod touch, have purchased a couple of cheap pairs off ebay but they break with a few weeks. Does anyone know a good alternative to Apple headphones or the cheapest place to buy Apple ones. Thanks

Sony, Panasonic, and big name brands do earphones, but it depends what your Son is doing to them.
My iPod headphones have lasted me about 4 years now and still going strong, the more expensive ones, not the bundled ones though...

you paid quite a lot for the ipod
maybe spend a bit on worthy 'phones?
i use shures on my ipods
not cheap but i buy them when they are on special offer
i got my shure 110's for under £20 but have seen them recently for £35 which IMO is worth it0 -
I'm a fan of Sennheiser. The superb CX300 can be had off Amazon at a good price. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sennheiser-CX-300-II-Precision/dp/B001EZYMF4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1246956700&sr=8-10

It's ok recommending expensive earphones, but if OP's Son is breaking ones that came with the iPod, and I have to say they are reasonably sturdy, just not very good audibly, then spending £35 - £50 on a pair might not last very long.
Yes, they are great, and I'm a huge fan of decent earphones, but they might still break and OP will be yet again forking out more money as their son might not be as gentle with things as we are

Perhaps your son should pay for his next pair? They may all of a sudden increase their longevity if they are paid for from his own pocket money.0

I agree with KimYeovil. I always bought my earphones as a child/teenager, when I had my walkman, and then discman, and then minidisc player, and they lasted me well. I made sure i put them in the carry case, and wrapped the up neatly.
as the Seinnheisers are reasonably priced, then I'd try a pair of them, tell him he needs to be more careful and if he breaks them in the next month or so, he'll have to buy his own!!!
suddenly, they'll last a year!0
