    SHOWS
Later on, we headed to Kahunaville bar in TI. We got the Travelzoo offer for 6 cocktails for $25 (it was actually $25 off of 6 cocktails, that would never have covered it!),

We've bought two of these vouchers at TI for March, how do they work and how do you redeem them ? From the sound of it we should do our homework on the cost of the cocktails before ordering :o

Would you say two vouchers were too many for 1 night ?

Also how was the food at Kahunaville ?

not the worlds biggest dilemma but still trying to work our way through the strip hotels that we haven't done, but want to do - i'm running out of cheap options though :(

    Here's what we've done:
    -Mandalay Bay
    -Luxor
    -NewYorkNewYork
    -MGM Grand
    -Planet Hollywood
    -Paris
    -Bellagio
    -Caesars Palace
    -TI
    -Encore

    Here's what we think remains:
    -PH Towers / Westgate
    -Tropicana
    -Cosmopolitan
    -Palazzo / Venetian
    -Monte Carlo *Hotel32*?
    -Mirage

Suggestions / recommendations welcome! :) - thinking of giving Tropicana a go (purely based on so many positive things being said about it lately... and it'll be cheap) and would like to go for Platinum / Cosmo but I get the feeling we can't afford the room that we want at the latter! - I can see us ending up in PlanetHo Towers...
...and against everything we wanted to do, we have ended up with 3 nights @ re-visiting Luxor (Pyramid Room) - yet to book it but £119 inc. resort fee's through LowCostUsa non-refundable - i've been against staying @ MGM's as the resort fee angers me but at that price, and no $16p/n fee i feel quite comfortable, and saves a bit of cash :)

Luxor was our first Vegas hotel and I know the rooms get bad press for being dark, but it's a pyramid which will always mean it's what Vegas is all about! (until they knock it down :(:D )

    Then 5 nights @ Platinum

Then final 3 nights is a big fat question mark at the moment - we like to splash out for a final fling so will see what happens :) - hopefully it can be a hotel we haven't tried before (Cosmo Premium Terrace View currently weighing in at over £650 :( )

Would also go for Ballys out of those hotel choices.....in fact, will probably
Stay a few nights there this next trip.We have stayed at both Luxor and Ballys, and while the Luxor has more of a over the top Vegas style hotel to it,the rooms are very average. The location is also not as good as Ballys.
All the hotels you mentioned are south strip,to an extent, where as Ballys is ideally situated in the middle.Nothing fancy in Ballys, you st there for location, and the fact you can walk to the strip from your room in a couple of minutes, not 10-15 minutes like some strip hotels.Join total rewards online, and you will see better prices for a stay there.

Thanks all for the tips. I've stayed at bally's before and liked it a lot. I think we are going to split between 2 hotels - either Monte Carlo or Luxor first half then Bally's second half.

We had a meal at Kahunaville a few years ago now, but it was awful. Hubby had a chicken dish and we thought the chicken was very tender until he scraped off the coating / dressing or whatever it was and found it was chicken roll!

I agree with your comments Re Luxor. You just gotta stay there once if you go to Vegas. If I stayed there again it would be in a Pyramid room.
And I see the lure of Platinum keeps drawing you back. They have stopped the Wednesday night meet and greet, we were being cheeky over New Year and roamed in to see if we could blag some wine and tapas but the welcome night was no longer going:o
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

hi can i just ask your opinions on travel insurance?
we will be 25 (f) & 29 (m) at the time of travel.
should i get insurance now that we have our flights booked? does this normally provide protection if a flight is cancelled or anything?
on travelsupermarket website it is coming in around £35 to £50 for the 2 of us. Does this sound about right for a young couple with no medical conditions etc?
    Thanks

my tip is get it now and make sure every medical condition you have is mentioned on it,
I fill in a lot of these forms for people (GP) to claim where they have had to cancel and the insurance companies will do anything to get out of the claim...ive seen som real nice people end up in a lot of difficulty over it often because they thought something was not relevant or have phrased it the wrong way when applying for insurance

Is there any reason why you narrowed your choice to the 4 hotels you listed, as you have been before there probably is, just thought I would ask though as there are lots more choices.

Not sure when you are going but going via link on smartervegas there are lots of nights for $36 at Luxor...3 nights would be about $180 in total so about the same as Lowcostusa but fully refundable..may be worth a look

    Need your help peeps.

I have Harrah's booked for 4 nights mid-trip at the moment at $35. We have stayed there once before. The room was OK, nothing special, we don't like the casino for gambling, but like the location for a few days so we can go to Cravings, Flavors, the Range, etc.

However.......... I am tempted by the Bally's Travelzoo offer. Have stayed in the North Tower before and didn't find the room any better than the South Tower. Don't mind the casino.

We are looking for a cheaper place for the 4 nights to offset the cost of a one bedroom suite at the Carriage House for the remainder of the time.

Any thoughts to help me make a decision?

Hard to advise someone who knows Vegas so well :D

My only thought is that we used to like Flavors but went last August and wouldnt go back as it had gone downhill.

I have always looked at staying at Harrahs and Ballys but always end up at Flamingo but for $35 a night :undecided

When we arrived and were seated for dinner, we just showed them the Travelzoo voucher, they knew what it was and took it away. The amount of the voucher was deducted from the cost of the 6 cocktails on the bill. We would have got through 2 vouchers if we had them, so shouldn't be a problem, that's if they let you use 2 at the same time.

The food at Kahunaville was absolutely fine. We had a buy one entree get one free voucher, and they showed us the page of the menu we could order from. I had a chicken and pasta dish and there was a huge piece of chicken breast, that I had to cut in half and share with OH, and he had a prawn and pasta dish that had more than enough prawns in. Neither of us finished our meals, and are big eaters.
