I've got a fixed term ISA with Aldermere due to mature soon. At maturity, it automatically gets moved to a 30-day notice ISA with Aldermere. I'm planning on transferring to another provider - anyone know the best way of doing this? Do I need to wait until my old account has actually matured, or can I open a new ISA now and specify a 'transfer date' (i.e. after maturity) with my new provider? It's been a while since I needed to bother with my ISA - apologies if this is a dumb question.

This sounds to me like a bit of skulduggery by Aldermere to make it difficult to know what to do.

There is usually an option in the transfer request form (provided by the new manager) to delay the transfer until any existing fixed term has expired.

    Edit
It occurs to me that that it not unusual for ISA managers to write to customers on fixed-term ISAs to ask what they want to do with the ISA on maturity. If you are close to maturity, you should have received something.

    Hope Kazza's ok.

Got an email from Virgin. Cash eISA dropping to 0.51% very shortly. Very short notice, annoying.

    Hunting for better rates.

Very easy to switch your Virgin, just transfer it to their

1.11% Defined Access Issue 16 (upto 3 withdrawals). The transfer is instant, I've just done mine and got DH to do his.

I also hope Kazza is OK, long time, no post.

You must have just got in there before it was pulled.
Did you really mean to put loose?

I suspect the 16 th. issue Defined Access will be going the same way too ( to 0.51%).
My 11th. issue Defined Access is.
    I got the same email.

    :p:D

Haha. Not interested. Removed all funds from VM variable rate accounts in protest at the change to T&C in reducing the notice period for interest rate reductions from 2 months to 2 weeks. "Building a better bank" should mean offering better terms than their competitors.
