Tesco mobile help

I have a 24 month contract with Tesco mobile (8.50 p/m) I'm half way through the contract and have managed to not only smash the phone but also the SIM has been corrupted & of course I don't have the insurance, I'm guessing my only option is to get a cheap pay as you go until the end of the contract? Is there anything else I could do? Advice welcome. Also is there any way to keep my number, I have a spare handset I can make use of.

I did the same years ago, didnt corrupt the sim though but did replace a damaged phone.
Look in Tesco for ease of convenience.0
