Oh wow, this is just what I need!!!
I've spent the last couple of days overhauling our finances due to impending major changes coming up (OH being made redundant ) and was struggling with my own spreadsheets, which look nowhere near as professional as yours I must say, so this is fantastic thanks very much! :A0 -
Thanks Purplemoon - the savings pot section is great (even if I do say so myself ! He he)- I just love seeing the 'tower' change month to month and it inspires me for Christmas/holidays etc. :j
The monthly 'frills' section has made me aware that I was spending alot on Entertainment and 'miscellaneous' so have cut down on these loads. Plus we did one for our joint account, and realised 'extras' that were nothing to do with bills were amounting to an average £65 a month - no wonder our joint account was overdrawn - by around £65 a month!
It means we're more careful now and the switch card only comes out for food shopping, and DD's are just bills - no more hanky panky!MFW #185

Hi EagerLearner
Fab spreadsheet:beer: :j
One question why is it that when i get to 10k on the saving pots the numbers in the total turn to hashes? how can i stop this from happening and how do i add more months to it following December? Wil you make another spreadsheet for the new year? All it takes for evil to succeed is for a good man to do nothing!0 -

Hi $17mma - to eliminate the hashes - just widen the column (drag in the top header gray area between columns) :T
I hope to create a new spreadsheet for the new year - yes definately :beer:MFW #185

EagerLearner - thanks so much for the spreadsheet. I have taught myself a little bit about Excel using:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/training/default.aspx
It really has been very good.
Just a little query...the column chart on the Saving Pot page...the lines don't seem to correspond with the lines...do you see what I mean, i.e. the green block of Long Term Savings only reaches up to the £100 line...
Why is this?
Thanks

Hi Annie - you need to right click on the chart and check 'source data' - make sure the chart is referring to the right cells. Sometimes the chart doesn't update itself with the underlying data and needs refreshing - it's possible that's what happened but I can't tell without seeing the spreadsheet - if you like PM me your e-mail address, I'll respond, then you can e-mail me the sheet to take a look?MFW #185

Hi Annie - you may also prefer to view the savings 'tower' in normal format, rather than 3D - for this, simply right-click, select 'chart type' and select the top middle option, this will change the chart to a plain tower which may be easier for you to read. See what you think.MFW #185
