Virgin 100mb broadband - wireless not covering whole flat

I live in a standard size 2 bed flat, all on one floor so not massive.
Recently had Virgin 100mb broadband installed with pc connected to the router via cable and works fine but laptop/tablet in another room or kitchen on wireless not so.
Short of putting all my devices on cables while in use (not practical) or using all in one room (again not practical) - I looked at some "repeaters" etc but have no idea which one to get or would I need just one or one in each room?
Any recommendations please?
Thanks a lot

I recently upgraded to Virgin 100mb from their 50mb. Get 100mb+ wired connection but initially had very poor wireless speeds and unstable connection even with the laptop sitting next to the router.
After lots of faffing I found that changing the Wireless Broadcast Channel from auto (defaulted to 6) to 13 solved this and i now get 40-50mb wireless throughout our 3 bed terraced house.
I have tried home plugs for a PC upstairs but found it worse than the wireless.
You may get more response and suggestions asking in the Techie Stuff forum.0 -

Techie Stuff forum.
Thanks a lot. Would you mind letting me know how to do that please?0 -
Lets see...
Control panel -> Network and Sharing Centre.
Click "See Full Map"
Right Click "gateway"
Click "View Device Webpage"
Sign in to to the Super Hub.
Click "Wireless Network Settings" button.
Change the Channel.
Hope that's ok to follow!
I tried a few different channels and 13 worked best, but, once changed everything worked fine except my Kindle Fire TV box which wouldn't connect and I had to get a wire connection for it.0 -
Maybe a moderator will see this and move it
Answer is here

If you have a Superhub 2 then there will also be a 5gHz channel, it's easy to find an empty channel in this band but only new/premium gadgets have a 5gHz option.
Flats are the worst for channel congestion. It will really pay to use Inssider on a Laptop or Wifi Analyzer (for Android) to survey which local channels are empty.0 -

Much simpler to put the router's IP address into your browser ... http://192.168.0.1
Click "Wireless Network Settings" button.

Channel 13 is actually out of range for many UK devices ... you need to stick to channel 11 and below
Hope that helps.... DaveHappily retired and enjoying my 14th year of leisureI am cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.Bring me sunshine in your smile0 -

Tried suggestions from here but not much better really - no signal or dropping signal/loosing connection.
I had Sky before and it was fine...

I had a SuperHub 2, which does both 2.4GHz and 5GHz.
A Virgin Media call centre guy said it's a know issue, where the two bands clash (Yes, I know they are not supposed to). Try to log in and disable either band.0 -
That is the same hub I have got and my PC and one of the laptops pick up 5 but tablet and another laptop pick up 2 so perhaps....
Thanks for that - how do I disable one pls? I assume I would need to disable the 5 one as 2.4 should be picked up by all devices then?0
