I Think I may need a new monitor as this one keeps going off.I have found a gaming one on sale but wondered if it will connect to my computer as it is not a gaming one.Do Monitors connect to any computer? The description does mention some ports but no idea if I have them or not.As I will be buying from a catalogue don't want to get it and not be able to use it.

And you expect an answer to that question:
unknown computer with unknown ports to an unknown monitor with unknown ports?
If you give the make and model nos we may be able to help!0 -
There are at least 4 different connectors used for monitors so you'll need to be careful to buy one that'll work with whatever your computer has (or you can buy an adaptor).
What's the make and model of your current monitor?0 -

was asking if all monitors work with all computers so now I know they do not have given my monitor model above but the computer was bought from cash convertors and I think it is one someone made themselves0 -
That monitor has both VGA and DVI connectors:

Have a look which of the two you are using. Hopefully it's the DVI, in which case you can easily buy a monitor with a DVI connector and it'll be an easy swap.0 -

Scroll down to
Dual input accepts both analogue VGA and digital DVI signals
Check the outputs on your computer.

Find a monitor that will have inputs that your computer can match. DVI, Vga and Display Port are the common ones. If your computer is as old as the monitor, you will have only DVI and VGA, possibly only VGA. DVI is best.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

The only slight question mark is that if your computer is an older one, the DVI connection on it might not have the HDCP copy protection that is now almost universal on DVI connections (same technology as HDMI connections).
I've learned the hard way that a pre HDCP graphics card won't show any DVI output on a modern monitor. Similarly a modern graphics card won't work with a pre HDCP DVI connection on a monitor.
That monitor would still work, but you might be limited to using the VGA connection.
Probably only an issue if your PC is more than 10 years old though.0 -

That monitor is a very good price: £136 at Amazon. What computer do you have? Self-build, or bought as a system? Give us the make/model and we can look at the connections. Also, does it have a Graphics card, or just the graphics that came with it?I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.
