First how do I find out what speed my internet is?
Secondly how does Amazon TV work, is that internet, or a dish ior aerial? We are having awful probs with ITVHub and Ch5 etc on the laptop - freezes and restarts or just won't work at all and husband is getting sick of it.
And thirdly do you not need a licence for it?
TY!

BT line? Use
http://speedtest.btwholesale.com
Click yes; want more info? Click "Further diagnostics", enter landline number, cross your fingers. Tell us the results. Or lots of other speed tests around.
Amazon TV is internet based but LOTS of ways of getting it (starting with an internet connection...).If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.0 -
Hi
To find your internet speed go to http://beta.speedtest.net/ click test and this will give you your connection speed.
Amazon TV is streamed over the internet, it connects to your wireless network.
You do not need a licence to use amazon TV0 -
Ok thank you both. It says:

You mean don't use the wireless router?0 -
Probably your current problems are wifi is poor wrong channels etc .
Use Ethernet from router to PC/ Laptop for speed test and try your ITV hub etc .0 -

I'm in a very rural area with speeds much less than you have and the Fire TV works well. It's a gadget which you plug into the TV and it streams via your broadband network.
It won't stream live terrestrial TV stations but can access BBC iPlayer etc. Click on the link for detailed info on it.

And regarding the licence question ... yes, you do need a TV licence to watch BBC content via Iplayer - even catch up.0
