Happy Monday…the weekend goes so quick!

Happy Independence day Mila!! Hope you’ve had a great weekend celebrating! What a nightmare about the floor…hopefully you’ve got it sorted now.

My marine was only home for the weekend sadly…

I have 10 days to survive until pay day and I am out of money!! Well I have £11.45 in my purse but that is it. I have filled up my petrol so have enough to survive until pay day and I also have enough food to survive. I really need to start using the food I have rather than constantly buying more!!!

Pulled together food shop, petrol, personal spending and contingency money and left with 63p!! I did buy myself a bikini, a skirt, underwear and a dress…not essential, but I wanted them and haven’t spent money on myself hardly at all this year….not that that’s an excuse, I don’t need new clothes….but aslong as I don’t use my overdraft or credit cards I will forgive myself. Oh and I also spent £20 in the pub yesterday afternoon!!

I was meant to be going to a gin testing night on Friday which is £20…I think I will cancel. I could borrow money out of the dog walking fund (my mum and daughter pay for their weeks in advance) but then that isn’t a true reflection of sticking within my budget…just wait and see how the week goes and how much I need a drink!!

Hope you all had lovely weekends xx

Nearly forgot - made an effort to sell some things...better get my skates on as I claimed I would have this done before pay day!!

I have 2 iphone 5’s to sell but they aren’t working. Put it into Envirofone who give you a price for them working think it was £52 and if it’s not working then they give you a price and if unhappy they post it back free of charge…anyone else used them before? Or any other recommendations?!

Hey, Reality, glad you had a good week end... if you don't go to the gin thing, can you get your £20 back or have you not paid for it yet?

I won't lecture you but personally, since our circumstances changed, I now think of it as immoral as well as uneconomical to throw food away, unless it has gone off. We seldom buy enough that it has a chance to go off. Yes, sometimes it means eating things we don't really fancy but there a dozens of things you can do with leftovers and needs must.

I am sure your marine will appreciate the bikini, so perhaps that is money well spent.

Happy 4th July, Mila! Oh, say can you see... no lime in the drinks today? :D

This weekend is so much fun! Everyone else is down for a nap before the big fireworks display over the river tonight. We have been spending time at the pool (outdoors) and were there 3 hrs today. Flags lined the road driving in and there were hamburgers and hotdogs to consume. This is a lodge pool so there was beer and margaritas to be had. :D
We set up in the big outdoor pavilion by the pool which has tables and chairs. Two daughters, SIL and DGD (just turned two) all came in for the 4th weekend and DD1's 20th high school reunion. We have the best fireworks in the state and our town doubles in size over the 4th weekend. The city just built a new water park (do you have these in GB?) and lots of tourists go to Carlsbad Caverns which is near.
Last night we grilled steaks and Sequoia watched some little firework her mommy did outside.
She was a bit afraid at first, which is good. Healthy firework fear is safety wise.
The weather has been beautiful and only got to 102 F (39C) today. A slight breeze and swimming... Perfect. It's a dry heat as it's arid here.
I think Sequoia will love the big display tonight. We go to the park by the river.
Overprepare, then go with the flow.

102 degrees, is it? 102 flaming degrees! It struggles to get above 60 here, oop where it's grim. :( I had to go and look at the barometer thermometer to translate into Fahrenheit.

Yeah, we have a few water parks, Mila, (well, outdoor pools with a slide or two, everything is bigger in America, don't forget)... don't think they do business for much of the year, can't think why.

I am so glad you are having a great time. Sequoia, eh? Puts "Willow" in the shade, rather.

Some people near me have put their heating back on, and OH was muttering about lighting the fire at the weekend - we didn't but I was tempted. I did make stew for dinner however - stew in July!

Yeah, Joeyjimbles, every morning I tell myself not to be such a soft, southern wimp but I am jonesing to put the heating on right now, as every day.

We had chicken casserole last night, so nearly stew.

Sorry to digress but, JJ, may I ask you how many of those Prolific Academic surveys you get to do? Days go by and I am ineligible for all of them, except the full ones. :(

    Cheers, me dear.

We're probably different demographics so its hard to compare - I got two yesterday, a 40p and a £4. Last week, I got 2-3 most days but its entirely dependent on what the students want. I know its hit and miss, though there is a thread on here where we post when new studies are posted, I think you just have to get lucky. And there will be far more studies from September onwards.

Well, on other forums, they claim that the universities don't close but I did notice a downturn during the summer months last year - perhaps others were just more desirable than me. My recommendation is to just keep refreshing the site tab and take what you can find.
