Train her then and then she wont be boisterous.

Lets face it....it is a case of you cant be bothered and now want rid.

She is trained but she's a 10 month old puppy, she's lively, she wants to jump about and play and thats no good around small children.

It's not a case of can't be bothered and want rid at all. I took her in as a favour and now i'm trying to find the best solution for the dog! :(

Yes I was told Battersea would put her down due to her needing an op:(

    What op? The snip?

Can't you get her the snip & then give her to a rehoming charity?

Surely the cost of the op would be repaid by not having to buy her food while you are waiting for somewhere?

I've had a look on dog pages, and the vet couldn't help when I last tried but like you say someone may have recently lost a pet so I will try again. I would much prefer to find her a permanent home than hand her in to a rescue :(

    You are contradicting yourself;)

The original breeder doesn't want to know any more, i've tried them and they asked a few people but nobody was interested and they've since given up and left me to sort it out :(

I've tried everything (seriously, everything!) that comes up on google for: dog rescue and/or rehoming dogs in essex/sussex/kent/london/brighton, also lincolnshire & nottinghamshire.

Also tried rhodesian ridgeback specialists, staff specialists, all local vets, doris banham.

Ridgeback rescue gave me about 40 numbers to try, none of which would take her.

    Dogs Trust won't take her

The dog warden for the local council won't take her

Well said. its not helping to have a go at the op who is trying to find another home. yes a dog should be for life and people should think much more before taking on animals but in this situation people should try to help the dog.

    Yes, thank you.

All I want to do is help the dog.

This was never, ever intended to be permanent but my friend can't take her back and finding her a new home is the only option. I would love to be able to give her a home myself, I really would, she's a lovely dog around adults, but I can't have her around the small children:(

How? What else am I supposed to do? I've tried everything else and would love to find her a home but as nobody will take her then rescue centres are my only option:( How else am I supposed to find her a new home? Anyone could reply to an ad in a paper, no friends who i'd trust to take her are interested as they have small kids, i've run out of options. Thats why i'm posting here, to see if anyone has other suggestions.

    Eh?
A trained dog will sit when told to, will lay when told to and will not be knocking down children or acting giddy unless it is in a situation where you let it.

If the dog is not controllable then it is not trained, simple as that.
You can get her trained by taking her to classes.

As you said "Nothing can be done", yes, of course something can be done....you can take her to training classes to solve that problem and contact the PDSA about the speying problem.

And people here are giving you suggestions.

You say that you would love to keep her.....then do something to enable that. Take her to classes and get her under control and then she wont be a problem around the kids.

Rescues are overun with animals at the moment - we had a cat that appeared in our garden last year in the snow and nowhere would take him, so he stayed was neutered and now lives here, but like the OP I tried everywhere.

OP, if your concern is the puppy being boistrous have you tried getting a crate for her? You can pick them up on freecycle or freegle usually, and then she has a safe place to be without being outside and your son can explore his house in peace. All of my dogs have been crate trained and when my boys were little it was a godsend for both me and the dog - they had somewhere to go when THEY wanted some peace too.

Try the RSPCA/Blue cross for help with the spaying, although they will only help if you are in receipt of qualifying benefits. The PDSA runs a network of local vets so you could also try them as well.

    Good luck

I don't think its helpful to try & persuade you to keep her if you don't want her, but lets NOT pretend this is anything other than you getting rid;) You are not looking for the best possible home you are trying to get rid without having to get her netured as you don't want her to cost you anymore.

Lets not dress this up as rehoming;)
I would have more respect for you if you were at least honest...
