    Hi,

I know they have their doubters and limitations but I am wondering if some buyers prefer the ease of doing it online and get put off by speaking to an EA?

Opposite in my experience. I ruled out properties listed with an online EA.

I can certainly drop the price, just a bit concerned the EA has told me not to do this as he doesn't think it will be much benefit. He said my apartments take a few months to go and to be patient. If it doesn't sell by Novemeber then with the Xmas period Im worried it'l drag on into next year.

I won`t be bothering to look at any purple bricks properties, I want the full escorted visit and not by the owner

That's just weird. Why would you want to be shown around by someone who knows nothing more about the property than what is already written down in the Rightmove advert?

Bizarre. It's the property you are buying, not a service from an EA! Does the property change in some way depending on which EA it is advertised with? :)
Does anyone think Purple Bricks will be able to drum up more interest?

I'm very pro online-EAs having saved thousands on a recent sale but as long as your property is listed on Rightmove then I doubt going with PB will add much, if any, extra interest.

The vast majority of houses do take time to sell and you are about to enter a quieter time as people's thoughts turn to Christmas. You can either be patient and get a decent price for your home or drop the price and hope for a quick sale.

There are also stories on Purple bricks here where they are not in the best of light

To be frank, you obviously were not a serious buyer for that particular property so you have probably done yourself, the EA and the buyer a favour by not signing up to view...

Unless you want to do all of the work yourself I wouldn't recommend Purple Bricks. We have had no contact with our rep since our house had to be remarketed due to waiting six weeks for our first buyer to be unable to obtain a mortgage (something that should have been checked out before they could put an offer in!) We relisted and thankfully sold again within another few weeks but have had no contact with our rep whatsoever! She wasn't approachable at all after we had to remarket and had an attitude so we felt we couldn't ring for advice. We even had to give our house keys to our new buyers ourselves. The only thing purple bricks was take a few pictures and advertise on rightmove & zoopla nothing else. So depends really if you want an estate agent to work for you and be there to offer advice etc or if you want to go it alone.

Not sure why you want someone with pointy shoes and a cheap nylon suit to explain something about a house they've never lived in. I'm always preferred the vendor showing me around.

I think it depends on the vendor and/or the EA.

I often find that vendors feel the need to tell me huge amounts of irrelevant details... (sometimes long after I've decided that I don't like the property, but feel it's a bit rude to leave too quickly).

EAs tend to be more businesslike - and less emotional.

The last property I bought, the EA just stood in the hall and left me to walk around. TBH, I think I probably liked that approach best. (I managed to work out which rooms were the kitchen, bathroom, lounge, bedrooms etc all by myself.)

As a buyer I preferred purple bricks. You have control and I have direct contact with the seller. I have had lots of questions and have been able to email the seller and she comes back almost straight away. EA forget or they are too busy and it's days sometimes. The seller just emailed to say the valuation is booked and I wouldn't have had this information as quickly through an EA. As a buyer I would highly recommend purple bricks any day. I have viewed about 20 properties with an EA and only 3 were with the EA showing us round so it makes no odds in that respect. Good luck

And to add that the 2 different EA that showed us round answered all my questions with 'I'm not sure but if you ring the office they will tell you!' All just babysitters and just useless
