I loaded open office and then loaded a file from memory stick. Everything was ok but then Google crashed and when I try to restart my computer, it tries to load Windows then the screen goes black. I'm not getting the usual start up "music" either. . My cursor is there, and I can get Ctrl alt and delete but there is nothing running on the task manager.
Macafee has comeup with a message that it has blocked something so I clicked remove but still nothing.
Any suggestions ?

Have you tried getting into Safe Mode (usually F8 at startup)?:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:

I managed to get it to start in safe mode, and ran anti-malware and it detected over 2000 problems. It seemed to have installed Vosteran. I have just run another scan and it looks to be ok. I have loaded open office before and been fine.
Will restart when this scan has finished and see if it's ok.
Edit. Vosteran must still be there. I have opened google and it tries to search using Vosteran. I have checked my google properties and can't find any mention of it. How do I get rid of it ?
Found some info online so will try that to see if it worksYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -
Which anti-malware scanner did you use?
If it was Malwarebytes it runs better in normal mode so might be worth giving that a go.
Make sure you've updated to the latest program and database version.:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:

Often it won't run properly (or the computer won't boot) until MalwareBytes' has been run in safe mode. Then you can reboot normally, and run MalwareBytes' again.0 -
I ran Malwarebytes in safe mode, then managed to delete the Vosteran bug from the Google browser.
It's a fairly new memory stick and only has a a couple of spreadsheets on it.You're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -

Have you tried using a live cd from AVG or Bitdefender?0

I also have had an attack of vosteran! It's the second one the first one took over Internet Explorer. After advice from a Computer specialist - I restored it to prior to hi-jacked download. But this time its taken priority over google chrome, haven't found any mention of it on a file search. Apologies for formatting but this won't 'paragraph' - 'enter' goes to same line not the next one!!I used to work for Tesco - now retired - speciality Clubcard0
