Sneaky ways to save the pennies

I haven't read all the posts on here, because my eyes are going funny! But here are a few of my ideas..
The nets that oranges, onions, etc come in, can be scrunched up to make a good washing up scrubber, I use them for cleaning cat bowls, the toilet, anything else I wouldn't want to re use the sponge for.
Adding a few drops of vinegar to the washing up liquid makes it last twice as long.
I usually use my daughters bath water after she's gone to bed, just add a couple of kettlefuls of hot water to it. In summer, I pull the shower curtain across the bath, and leave my and the littl'uns bath water in, and use it to flush the toilet. We use the Original Source minty shower gel, so it smells nice, and neither of us get that dirty, so there's no ring of scum left in the bath. Also, if you use Ecover, or similar washing up liquid, you can use the water on plants, and it won't harm them.
Vinegar and hot water for cleaning.
If you have any brown mushy bananas feft at the bottom of your fruitbowl, blend them up, and use them in cakes instead of eggs. You can also do the same with apples, but add a pinch of cinammon.
Boiled potatoe skins are nice added to a curry, or fried with baked beans.
Empty hoummous and other dip pots are great for kids lunch boxes, easy to open, and it doesn't matter if they lose them.
Empty margerine tubs are easy to fill, store and empty than freezer bags, and can be used until they fall apart.
Laundry balls, though not to everyone's taste, cost about 3p a wash to use.
And here's one that I'm not sure about, but my friend says it works.
If you freeze Ribena in ice cube trays, and only allow one cube per drink, it tastes the same, and lasts longer. I don't know about that, because I never buy squash.0 -
Aquaeus (not sure of spelling!) cream is very cheap (about £2 for a big tub which lasts ages) and not only great for dry skins, incl. excema and psoriasis sufferers, you can use it to remove makeup, including waterproof eye makeup - just smear a bit on & remove with damp cotton wool or a flannel. I don't wear makeup every day, as I have sensitive skin (and where I work now I don't need to 'dress up' that much!), but always find it works for me.
A friend also uses it on her littlun's bot when nappy-changing and rates it above all the nappy-rash creams. The best advice you can give your children: "Take responsibility for your own actions...and always Read the Small Print!"

Oh and re rabbit food - When I was little, as well as 'bought' dry food, my mum always used to boil up the potato peelings & other veg scaps to feed my rabbit - she had the idea from somewhere that raw potato was bad for them. Rabbit loved them - especially in the winter when she used to get them still warm! The best advice you can give your children: "Take responsibility for your own actions...and always Read the Small Print!"

However, the labels do peel off so they don't look too bad, unless you're one of those people who like everything to match (in which case your bathroom will have to be purple or orange, lol)
They are Kandoo and Johnsons Junior.
I don't know if I got a faulty Kandoo bottle but I tried refilling it with handwash and now it won't foam.
I bought a cheapy one from Boots and that's fine.0 -
Did it foam when you bought it? If so you might need to water it down more to allow it to flow through.£10 per day Challenge (Oct)

Yep - that's the way to do it.
You only need about ½ inch up the bottle of soap then fill to ¾ way up with water. Too much soap and it won't work.I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -

I wish I could do this - my hair look s**t so I have to wash it every morning - but I know it's not good - so I have to use very gentle shampoo but dry it so I look half decent at work! Recently I used tea tree shampoo because that was all there was. My hairdresser (wet cut £9.00) complained how dry it was. Now am using cheap conditioner to improve it. So you are doing yourself a favour if you can leave it!Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Couldn't you just pour a couple of jugs of water over your hair in the morning and then style in the normal way, perhaps using a 'leave in' conditioner0 -
Your all lucky with the hair washing - due to allergic reactions the only shampoo and conditioner i cna safely use with no ill effects is Johnsons baby shampoo!!! and even then I wash it once a week.Making Changes To Save My LifeCurrent weightloss - 2lbs (week 1)0
