Ok, put a pin on the Sim.

    Go on holiday.
Man comes at you with Knife
You hand over phone, safe in knowledge that they can't use it
"what's your pin? Tell me or I'll stab you"
    "Oh... its 1111"

    Cue large bill.

Small surprise that Vodafone are repeatedly voted the worst mobile provider... too big to care I suppose.

Can't you just set a daily cap? My daughter's on contract and she told me she has zero the over spend amount to zero, that is she pays the monthly fee (£20?) and no more. Of course she's on 3 but surely vodaphone has the same option? Or doesn't it. I just use a PAYG as I rarely use mobile so automatically the worst I can lose is a few quid.

When you roam you're no longer billing in real time as your not on your home network. The info is passed from the roaming network every few hours...

A compelling reason to only use PAYG or local PAYG sims when abroad.

I think more should be done to pursue and prosecute the premium rate providers, they know who those people are because there is a financial trail.

At the very least they should refuse the charges from the premium rate providers and put them out of pocket. They really offer no legitimate purpose anyway.
