Why use S75 against the card provider? Why not also (or instead) against the HP finance provider? They had a much greater financial stake in the purchase.

Probably because Hire Purchase agreements are not covered by Section 75 of The Consumer Credit Act.

well done Scott! definitely a fine example of "the customer always being right"

Now i advise. go buy a decent car!
and steer well clear of Vauxhalls in the future! everyone i know who's had one has had nothing but problems.

Really? That's something I've learned ... I thought HP was finance, hence credit associated with the purchase, so covered by the Act.

Technically he didn't the finance company got the money, when you buy a car on finance its the finance company that buy it for you.
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

A Halifax spokesperson says: "In accordance with Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act, we were able to agree a payment to Mr Parsley of £25,711.95, less the sale of the vehicle but plus interest.

So what did he actually get....

Finance was paid off in full in February so section 75 was the only option.
