I had CCS cover pre 2005 for many years but I can't remember nor have a record of which years exactly.

Am I right in thinking I would have to approach CCS direct and ask for a record of my payments and years I was with them?

I didn't get cover through a bank I went direct and it was about £33 a year I seem to remember with a key fob for lost keys and an electronic 'vault' for valuables, serial numbers etc.

It took me a while to cotton on to the fact that cards were protected by the issuer with a max of £50 liability until reported as lost or stolen.

Then Tesco and Nectar started giving out key fobs for lost keys and I finally realised I was wasting my money!

I understand it is only credit card cover that is eligible for redress but in my case I had credit card(s) listed with my debit cards.

    Any help gratefully received.
  • For myself and probably many others .. Sentinel cover was provided FOC with Norwich & Peterborough BS Gold current account. Hard to see how a claim is therefore justified but one never knows.

Yorkshire Pud - here's a link to info on reclaiming for pre-2005 products - http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/credit-cards/Sentinel-Affinion-card-protection#2005

Was that decision ever in doubt. :-D

I didn't even fill my form in. I knew enough people would be doing it.
  • I still have Sentinel with Lloyds bank but when I chased Sentinel about not having any letters, they said they could not see me on the system.
They wanted to know my membership details but they didn't recognize my account details.
Has anybody else had any success with Sentinel through Lloyds?

Thanks but I didn't go through a bank I was with Sentinel and paid them direct!

Do I still have a case for compensation please and in what way is my case different from those who got the cover through a bank?
  • MSE says:
'If you submit a compensation claim form seeking compensation before the deadline, you will automatically cancel your product. If you submit a claim form, regardless of whether you are paid compensation, you will cease to benefit or be covered by any insurance within the product.
Therefore, if you find the product beneficial and want to continue to benefit from what it covers, you’ll need to think carefully before you submit a claim form.'

Sentinel -punishment cancellation if you claim?
I found Sentinel quite useful and have been a member for over 10 years. They helped me three times. Twice, while abroad I had my wallet stolen and it was good to be able to cancel all my cards with one phone call, especially as I did not have the cards details to hand. Once, a bunch of keys lost was posted from Switzerland.
If I claim, my policy will be cancelled. Can they do this? Could I buy another policy from them or would they decline? Are there other companies offering a similar service?
  • What if everyone had done what welshgasman said - "didn't bother, knew enough would do it" - It wouldn't have gone through - why not be proactive instead of expecting everyone else to do it for you. Like a previous listing wonder if there are any similar schemes if they cancel your policy as I find the one number for all cards useful.

Because human nature being what it is, that was never going to happen. :)

  • My membership renewal is due 27/9/15 I wish to cancel does this cause a problem?
