Will Apple launch a 4G iPhone that can be used on these networks?
Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.

I'm putting my money on September.

Most likely it'll launch in the UK during the second half of September.

I'm thinking around the third week in October, but hey, who knows?! (except the big wigs at Apple of course)... ;)

Or maybe there is no iPhone 5s and it's actually going to be an iPhone 6 next year! :D

But like you say, pure speculation.

Anyway, here is a few bits of info that i've taken from various sources about Three's 4G launch.

-Three will launch 4G across all packages in December.
-This includes Pay Monthly, Pay as you Go, Mobile Broadband and Business
-You need a 4G compatible phone, (see the link below for a list)
-The iPhone 5 WILL work on Three's 4G
-Three have said there will be no extra cost for 4G and it will be automatically activated on the phone via a sim update.
-Three have said this includes their unlimited data packages.
-Three will be using their 1800Mhz spectrum first and later rolling out their 800Mhz to fill in gaps.
-Three will be launching in London, Birmingham and Manchester first in 2013.
-More cities will be launching in 2014 (see OP for a list of confirmed cities)
-Three aim to cover 50 cities by the end of 2014 with 80% population coverage
-98% coverage by the end of 2015. (Same as O2/Voda pretty much)

    According to the Three Blog-
    Aberdeen
    Cardiff
    Glasgow
    Leeds
    Liverpool
    Norwich
    Reading
    Southampton
    and more....

will be the cities added in 2014.

Bit of shameless self promotion here-
This thread has a guide i've written on What 4G is, how you can get it, and why you should/shouldn't get it.

I've updated it to cover Three's, O2's and Voda's 4G plans. Also contains a list of 4G phones.

    (Guide still not 100% complete)
  • Thanks for this ZhugeEX - that's helpful!

I'm actually looking to write a guide on 4G which answers everyone's questions, so if you (or anyone else) has any suggestions/questions they want answering, just give me a shout and I'll see what I can do :)

On a separate note, Reading is unfortunately not a city (yet). I should know ;)

Haha good point. But reading is still confirmed to get it in 2014 :)

I guess based on what i've heard the most common questions refer to the difference between 3G and 4G. What the benefits are, why the iPhone 5 doesn't work on O2/Voda and then also how they can get 4G on their own network if they have/don't have a 4G phone.

    Hope that helps.

Reading and Swindon, 2 towns people always assume to be cities due to their size, but are just towns.

Chances of this area (Salisbury) getting 4G by 2015, slim.
