not really good news though. as BT will only go and hike up the price of their line rental again.

its scadelous how much they are charging at the moment considering they get funding from the government for maintaining and improving the infrastructure.

BT might... but all the rest might not (though they probably will anyway, and so we will stil get charged more).

I doubt that broadband prices can fall substantially further in Market 2/3 exchanges, in Market 1 exchanges there might be some scope but I wouldn't hold my breath.

As I understand it, they are proposing to do away with Market 1,2,3 classifications and replace with A and B -A will include all the existing Market 1 exchanges plus most of the Market 2 exchanges whilst B will cover the rest, with Kingston/Hull still outside the system - God knows what that will do to differential pricing models like Plusnet's - and what it will do for LLU operators -will it make it more or less likely that they will want to unbundle Market A exchanges??
I was hoping that my exchange would be reclassified as Market 2 -now it looks like it will be stuck in A probably for the foreseeable future:(

This is wrong, what funding ?, any money from government for NGA in uneconomic areas are areas that without some sudsidy would stay unconnected, companies that bid for BDUK funds don't stick the money in the bank, it's spent providing infrastructure,
OR charge for a local loop is £84 per year is scandalous based on what evidence ?, what retailers charge is upto them, don't like what BT retail charge, then use someone else

what funding? where have you been the last few years?

August 2011, the government confirmed that counties in englend would receive £294.8 million
then an additional £5.56 million May 2012.

plus £150 million to Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds & Bradford, Newcastle and Manchester along with the four UK capital cities.

(i dont use bt too! i refuse to be ripped off by them. i pay less than half of what bt charges for line rental. all thanks to this site)
